This sculpture incorporates smooth and graceful sight lines in the natural carving of the stone. The high luster finish as obtained from the water polishing with diamonds has resulted in a resistant high gloss surface which is a treasure to view and pleasure to touch. The shape of the bears chubby body as supported by the rounded legs and rolled feet although difficult to cut, grind and polish has resulted in a peaceful and tranquil carving as the bear cub seems to be looking off into the distance or skyline contemplating the bonding relationships of life, love, friendship and personal growth. A blending of creativity and the willingness to endure a difficult carving process, coupled with patience has resulted in this rough stone as quarried and obtained from Italy, having been transformed into a west coast Kermode "Spirit Bear" that cries out to be touched, held or fondled. The natural beauty of the stone is resistant to scratching or damage and has been meticulously polished to reveal the smoky grey and brown lines as well the speckling of light shiny mineral deposits, all being the natural characteristic of this particular marble stone.
