Pacific Pod and the Rogue Wave Coquihalla Jade (Serpentine) Item #188 Dimensions22 x 13 x 6 inches, weight 52.2 pounds Suggested Retail Price $6400.00 Sold This sculpture is by far the most intriguing, technical and complex carving that has been completed to date. A river boulder that weighed close to 200 pounds was quarried, transported and intensely studied prior to the methodical removal of stock with a variety of diamond tools. As the whales slowly emerged from the stone, a close family relationship and sense of protection was clearly evident as the Pod appears to be bonded, not only as a small Pod of whales but as a collective group of mammals on a common journey. Large whales, lead and stand guard as a young Killer Whale surfs to check on its surroundings and appreciate life and the protective nature of the individual Pod. The whales are positioned in a wavy ocean with an occasional rogue wave evident in the carving. The finished sculpture has four whales glistening like glass or a molten mass as they cruise the sea in search for food. The carving calls out to be viewed and enjoyed from different angles and various lines of sight, providing the viewer with a warm sense of calling as inspirational as seeing live whales in the Ocean. Paul's Signature Pieces are quickly becoming the feature sculpture in many homes throughout the world.
